چکیده
Frequency up-conversion is an effective method of mid-infrared (MIR) detection by converting the long-wavelength photons to visible domain, where efficient detectors are readily available. Here, we generate MIR light carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) from a difference frequency generation process and perform it via sum conversion in bulk quasi-phase-matching crystal. The maximum quantum efficiencies 34.0%, 10.4%, 3.5% for with topological charges 0, 1, 2, respectively, which achieved utilizing optimized strong pump light. We also verify OAM conservation specially designed interferometer, results agree well numerical simulations. Our study opens up possibilities generating, manipulating, detecting that carries OAM, will have great potential optical communications remote sensing regime.

Linear up-conversion of orbital angular momentum.
We experimentally demonstrated that infrared light imprinted with orbital angular momentum (OAM) was linearly converted into visible light using four-wave mixing (FWM) via a ladder-type configuration in 85Rb atoms. Simultaneously, we theoretically simulated this linear conversion process, and the theoretical analysis was in reasonable agreement with the experimental results. A large single-phot...

We report a technique for encoding both amplitude and phase variations onto a laser beam using a single digital micro-mirror device (DMD). Using this technique, we generate Laguerre-Gaussian and vortex orbital-angular-momentum (OAM) modes, along with modes in a set that is mutually unbiased with respect to the OAM basis. Additionally, we have demonstrated rapid switching among the generated mod...
متن کاملDo waves carrying orbital angular momentum possess azimuthal linear momentum?
All beams are a superposition of plane waves, which carry linear momentum in the direction of propagation with no net azimuthal component. However, plane waves incident on a hologram can produce a vortex beam carrying orbital angular momentum that seems to require an azimuthal linear momentum, which presents a paradox. We resolve this by showing that the azimuthal momentum is not a true linear ...
متن کاملOrbital angular momentum and nonparaxial light beams
The simple relationship between total angular momentum and energy and the seemingly natural separation of the angular momentum into spin and orbital components in the paraxial approximation, are investigated for a general nonparaxial form of monochromatic beam with near cylindrical symmetry.
